Sicardi Gallery is pleased to announce artist Maria Fernanda Cardoso’s selection by the City Art Program in Sydney, Australia. Cardoso will work closely with the Green Square Curatorial Advisor, stonemasons, and landscape architects, to transform the former Royal South Sydney Hospital site on Joynton Avenue at Green Square.
According to the city website:
The artist will place Bottle trees of varying "ages and sizes in sandstone garden beds, to spell out the words While I Live I Will Grow." This project expands on Cardoso’s well-researched use of plants and other life forms in her artwork, to create a kind of public intervention—to help people better connect with the natural world.
Cardoso’s concept was unanimously recommended by the City’s independent Public Art Advisory Panel.
